With its stunning views, magical rainforest treetop walks, beautiful picnic areas and amazing interactive wildlife experiences such as the bird feeding area, you are sure to enjoy your time at O’really’s Rainforest.
What Is It?
O’reilly’s Rainforest is a magical, ancient rainforest located in the World Heritage listed Lamington National Park, where you will find stunning rainforest canopy walks, picnic areas, beautiful views and amazing wildlife, including birds you can feed by hand! One of the main attractions and what would have to be our favourite thing about O’reilly’s Rainforest is the bird feeding area, where for $4 a tray, you can hand feed King Parrots, Crimson Rosellas and if you’re lucky, even O’reilly’s Rainforest iconic mascot, the Regent Bowerbirds.
The birds are very friendly and will approach you when you walk into the feeding area. Whilst we were there one even landed on my head!
With over 232 recorded species of birds, O’reilly’s Rainforest is regarded by many as a bird lovers paradise. Check out the O’really’s Rainforest website to learn more about some of the interactive bird watching activities you can participate in whilst visiting the rainforest.
Just past the bird feeding area you will find plenty of places to set up a picnic as well as a swing and balancing rope for the kids to play on.
Further down past the picnic areas, you will discover the entrance to the O’reilly’s Rainforest treetop walk. The path begins with a board walk, winding through the beautiful green rainforest plantation until you arrive at the suspension bridges.
The 180 meters of suspension bridges span through the rainforest canopy, at times up to 15 meters high. At the top of the suspension bridges you have a spectacular view of the rainforest floor, where you may be lucky enough to spot some of the beautiful wildlife such as the Paradise Riflebird or the Golden Whistler bird that live within the rainforest canopy.
How Long Does It Take?
We recommend allowing at least 2-3 hours to experience the O’reilly’s Rainforest treetop walk and bird feeding areas, however for the best experience we recommend packing a picnic lunch and spending the day here.
