With its stunning panoramic views of Brisbane City and out to Moreton bay, the Summit Restaurant, the popular Kuta Cafe and plenty of surrounding bush walks, there is plenty to love about Mt Coot-tha lookout.
What Is It?
The scenic lookout at Brisbane’s Mt. Coot-tha is an absolute must do, whether you’re just stopping in for a look at the beautiful city on the horizon, or if you plan on staying for a bite to eat at the renowned Summit Restaurant or popular Kuta Cafe, its always worth the trip.
The main attraction towards Mt. Coot-tha lookout are the absolutely breathtaking panoramic views of the Brisbane City CBD. On a clear day, you can also see all the way out to Moreton Bay!
One of our favourite things about Mt. Coot-tha lookout would have to be the telescopes located on the edge of the lookout which allow you to take a closer look at Brisbane and its surrounding suburbs – just make sure you bring some gold coins to use them!
There are plenty of other things to see and do whilst you’re at Mt. Coot-tha, including the gift shop, cafe and several bush walks in the area. If eating in isn’t your thing, there’s also plenty of space to set up a picnic blanket on the grassy hill in front of the cafe.
Whilst you’re in the area, we also recommend you check out the nearby Mt. Coot-tha Botanical Gardens
and the Planetarium. If you’re up for the walk, another great place to check out are J C Slaughter Falls
which can be accessed from Mt. Coot-tha lookout via the Aboriginal Track – keep an eye out for the Aboriginal art along the way!
How Do I Get There?

What Should I Bring?
We recommend bringing some warm clothing if you plan on visiting in the early morning or evening as it can get pretty chilly up on the look out, especially on a windy day! Otherwise make sure you bring long sleeve clothing and sunscreen.
If you’re not in the mood to eat in, we also recommend bringing a picnic lunch and blanket to set up on the grassy hill in front of the cafe. Finally as always, we recommend you bring your camera to get some awesome shots of the Brisbane CBD!
