Quick Overview of Lower Moora Park – Shorncliffe:

Lower Moora Park, located in Shorncliffe, is a beautiful park to take kids in Brisbane, featuring a huge timber playground for kids, a picturesque pier that is great for fishing, a beach that is perfect for kids to have a paddle, as well as plenty of BBQ’s and seating areas.

What Is It?

Located just below the Shorncliffe cliffs, you’ll find Lower Moora Park. The park features what is in our humble opinion, one of the best playgrounds in Brisbane. The massive timber playground is located just next to the beach and is set on a combination of sand and rubber, making it extra safe for kids.

Its features include slides that are built into the nearby hill, more slides that are built into the timber fort, a sandpit, swing sets, plenty of smaller playground equipment for toddlers and much, much more.
Seating around the playground at Lower Moora Park
There is plenty of seating surrounding the playground, as well as a large seating area further down with tables and BBQ’s if you plan on staying for a picnic.

There are also plenty of grassy areas near the playground under trees where you can set up a picnic blanket, however if you’d prefer not to bring your own lunch, there is also a lovely cafe located a short walk up the hill and across the road. We stopped in for a drink and the food was delicious!

There are loads of trees to climb, and plenty of space surrounding the playground to ride bikes and scooters or to kick a ball around. Whilst we were visiting, we also seen a few people flying kites!

As you continue down the concrete path, past the seating areas, you’ll come across the stunning Shorncliffe pier, which not only provides a great place to walk and take in the views of Moreton bay, but also lends itself quite well to those wanting to throw in a fishing line.

In fact you’ll even find a spot on the jetty that has been specifically set up for fishermen wanting to clean their catch before they take it home!

What Should I Bring?

We recommend bring along a hat, some sunscreen and some comfortable closed in shoes. We also recommend bringing along a picnic lunch (unless you prefer to dine in at the cafe above the park). If you enjoy fishing it’s not a bad idea to bring along your rod, as there are some great fishing spots along the Shorncliff Pier. Finally as always, we recommend you bring along your camera to grab some photos of your adventures!
