Moogerah Lake is a popular destination for those who enjoy water sports such as waterskiiing, fishing, canoeing, sailing and swimming. If you don’t have a boat, fret not as the nearby Lake Moogerah Caravan Park hires out small boats, kayaks, paddles boards and more!

The massive 827 hectare lake is made possible by a 315 thousand cubic meter dam wall constructed in 1959 that holds back the 83,765 megalitre reservoir when at full capacity.

As we discovered, the dam wall also conveniently makes a great place to take some amazing photos of the local scenery! Across the dam wall you will also find Mount Edwards – a huge walking trail and hike

If you’re into fishing, the lake is stocked with Australian Bass, Golden Perch, Silver Perch, Mary River Cod and Saratoga, however make sure you grab a permit prior to fishing by visiting the QLD Goverment Website Here. Bait can also be purchased from the Lake Moogerah Caravan Park.
If you look closely in the picture below, you’ll notice some little black spots in the water. Its difficult to tell from the photo, but these are turtles! We seen hundreds of them from the dam wall, swimming around in the tranquil waters below.
